If the Downey Knights were feeling good off their 53-24 takedown of the Modesto Panthers last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Downey was the victim of a tough 44-24 defeat at the hands of Turlock on Thursday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Downey in their matchups with Turlock: they've now lost four in a row.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zadie Carraway,, who scored eight points.
Turlock got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lexie Franco out in front who scored nine points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Olivia Walker, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals.
Downey's defeat dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Turlock, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.
Downey will be playing in front of their home fans against Enochs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Enochs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 29 on Thursday. As for Turlock, they will head out on the road to square off against Modesto at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Modesto is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
