There's no place like home for the Sacred Heart Academy Spartans, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They pulled ahead with a 48-47 photo finish over Moore Catholic. The score was all tied up 17-17 at the break, but Sacred Heart Academy was the better team in the second half.
Despite the loss, Moore Catholic still got an impressive performance from Brianna Caliri, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Caliri scored a full 38.3% of Moore Catholic's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mackenzie Felci, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
The win got Sacred Heart Academy back to even at 2-2. As for Moore Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Anthony's at 12:00 p.m. on January 16, 2024. Moore Catholic will finish 2023 at home by hosting Kennedy Catholic at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
