The Marin Catholic Wildcats will take on the Kelseyville Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Marin Catholic has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Marin Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Analy.
The team relied heavily on James Stocker, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Johnny Greco was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Marin Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.6.
Meanwhile, Kelseyville entered their tilt with Del Norte on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Warriors 12-1. Considering the Knights have won 13 matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brock Barrick made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one triple.
In other batting news, Kyle Watkins was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Max Hommer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Marin Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Kelseyville, their record now sits at 19-4.
