The Mt. Pleasant Vikings will face off against the Ligonier Valley Rams at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Mt. Pleasant barely beat Southmoreland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings' pitcher stepped up to hand the Scotties a 7-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Danica Trainer's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kendra Brunson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Miller, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Ligonier Valley fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Deer Lakes on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lancers by a score of 11-10.
Abigail Springer was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 9.1 innings while giving up five earned (and six unearned) runs off 14 hits. Springer was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Elyse Witcoski made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Marlee Miller, who went 2-for-6 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Mt. Pleasant's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Ligonier Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Ligonier Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Pleasant has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Ligonier Valley, though, as they've been averaging 11 hits. Given Mt. Pleasant's sizable advantage in that area, the Rams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mt. Pleasant was able to grind out a solid win over Ligonier Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, winning 9-4. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
