Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Alton had to settle for a 49-46 defeat against Belleville West. That's two games in a row now that Alton has lost by exactly three points.
Meanwhile, Metro-East Lutheran came up short against Woodlawn on Friday and fell 50-42.
Alton has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season. As for Metro-East Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 6-18.
