The High Tech Mesa Thunder will head out to challenge the Orange Glen Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. High Tech Mesa will be strutting in after a win while Orange Glen will be coming in after a loss.
High Tech Mesa took a loss when they played away from home last Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They put the hurt on Guajome Park Academy with a sharp 13-3 victory. That ten-run margin sets a new team best for the Thunder this season.
Rocco D'Esti made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jonah Monroe, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of High Tech Mesa's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Kalob Robinson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Orange Glen was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Guajome Park Academy by a score of 3-2. The Patriots' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Like High Tech Mesa, Orange Glen also got a great game from a two-way player: Nicki Cardenas. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Cardenas was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
High Tech Mesa pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Orange Glen, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. High Tech Mesa has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Orange Glen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
