Baseball Recap: Katella Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

While Katella didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Marshall Barristers on Monday. Considering the Knights have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Julian Bustos made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Miguel Prado was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Robert Barba also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Katella's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Katella didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-7 win against Barlow on the 25th. As for Marshall, they will square off against Roosevelt at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
