Rocklin and Davis Sr. are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Thunder will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Rocklin 2.5, Davis Sr. 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Rocklin took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Folsom by a score of 5-1. The win continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.
Blake Andre looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dylan Nusz, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Davis Sr. came tearing into Tuesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past the Grizzlies 7-5. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Grizzlies on their field since May 18, 2017.
Dylan Beamish looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).
On the hitting side, Davis Sr.'s victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Alex Kieffer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Kieffer has posted since back in March.
Rocklin pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Davis Sr., their win bumped their record up to 16-6-1.
Rocklin beat Davis Sr. 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
