Monterey Trail's and the Cougars' matchup on Tuesday was close at halftime, but the Mustangs turned on the heat in the second half with 44 points. Monterey Trail breezed by the Cougars at home to the tune of 73-41. The win was just what Monterey Trail needed coming off of a 68-46 loss in their prior match.
It was another big night for Aaliyah Knox, who scored 21 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Youngblood, who scored 13 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Grant stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-28 victory over River City on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-18.
Monterey Trail's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Grant, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.
Monterey Trail ended up a good deal behind the Pacers in their previous matchup back in January, losing 52-37. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grant's Asia Washington, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds.
