The Chestnut Ridge Lions suffered their closest loss yet this season on Monday. They fell just short of Central Cambria by a score of 36-34. Chestnut Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Central Cambria apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Loss or not, Chestnut Ridge got some senior leadership from Ashlie Weaver and Maya Wingard. Weaver dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Wingard. scored ten points along with five steals. Weaver is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played.
This is the second loss in a row for Chestnut Ridge and nudges their season record down to 7-6. As for Central Cambria, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.
Chestnut Ridge will be playing at home against Bishop McCort at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Bishop McCort will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Central Cambria, they will head out on the road to challenge Hollidaysburg at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hollidaysburg will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive.
