Having just played yesterday, the Redding Christian Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Portola Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on January 17th. Redding Christian will be strutting in after a victory while Portola will be coming in after a loss.
Redding Christian posted their biggest victory since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 42-22 margin over Burney. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Redding Christian has posted against Burney since January 28, 2020.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Portola's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against North Valleys, falling 62-24. While losing is never fun, Portola can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 723rd in California, while North Valleys is ranked 20th in Nevada).
Redding Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Portola, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Redding Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Portola in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, winning 54-44. Will Redding Christian repeat their success, or does Portola have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
