The Estancia Bears were the 72-54 winner over the Capitan Tigers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Estancia fell 64-54 to Capitan on Tuesday.
When it comes to explaining why Estancia lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Rubio. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 24 rebounds. Rubio scored a full 35.2% of Estancia's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Josh Calhoon, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Capitan, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Estancia will play host again and welcome Rehoboth Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Capitan, they will head out on the road to face off against Gateway Christian at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Gateway Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
