Baseball Game Preview: First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders vs. Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes

The First Preparatory Christian Academy Highlanders will square off against the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: First Preparatory Christian Academy has struggled recently with eight losses in a row, while Coastal HomeSchool will arrive with four straight victories.

First Preparatory Christian Academy fell victim to Liberty County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coastal HomeSchool). They put the hurt on Providence Athletic Club with a sharp 14-4 win on Saturday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Troy DeVoe and Jace Poppell did most of the damage at the plate: DeVoe scored three runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Poppell scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Poppell is becoming a predictor of Coastal HomeSchool's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of J.W. Castongia, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Coastal HomeSchool's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for First Preparatory Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went First Preparatory Christian Academy's way against Coastal HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as First Preparatory Christian Academy made off with an 11-1 win.
