Bloomingdale extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 5-17. They came up short against the Marcellus Wildcats, falling 16-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-1 on Friday.
As for Marcellus, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-9. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by nine runs or more this season.
For Marcellus' part, Seth Barrera was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Barrera also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Marcellus is 8-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Barrera was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cale Hackenberg, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, five RBI, and two runs. Marcellus is undefeated when Hackenberg posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zade Tyska, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Bloomingdale will square off against Lawton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Cardinals will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Marcellus, they will take on Three Rivers at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
