For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Ward Melville has suffered against William Floyd since February 2, 2018.
Leading William Floyd to victory were Kayla Gilmore and Shy Hawkins. Gilmore scored 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Hawkins scored 13 points along with nine blocks and six rebounds. Gilmore is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kayden Meyer was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Ward Melville and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for William Floyd, their win was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ward Melville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Walt Whitman at 6:45 p.m. on February 12th. As for William Floyd, they will head out on the road to take on Riverhead at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
