Norwalk has gone a perfect 5-0 against Paramount recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. Norwalk will face off against Paramount at 3:15 p.m.
Norwalk came into this matchup off a tough nine-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mayfair by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lancers have suffered against the Monsoons since April 30, 2021.
Angel Martinez and Marcus Castillo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Martinez scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Castillo went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Castillo's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Paramount came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Dons. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.
Raymundo Banuelos and Johnny Galvan dominated on the mound. Banuelos pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits, while Galvan pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Galvan also tossed no walks, which is notable because Paramount is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, Jacob Quinones was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Luis Banuelos was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.
Paramount's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Norwalk, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Norwalk has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Paramount struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Norwalk's way against Paramount when the teams last played on March 11th, as Norwalk made off with an 8-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norwalk since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
