Serra Catholic is on an 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Riverview is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will host the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Serra Catholic's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Brentwood. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly ten runs.

Max Black

05/01/24 @ Greensburg Central Catholic | 4 |
04/16/25 vs Hopewell | 3 |
03/24/25 @ Monessen | 2 |
03/15/25 vs Bishop Carroll | 2 |
Max Black was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Owen Dumbroski was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one stolen base.
Serra Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .536 or higher in six consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Riverview's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fifth consecutive shutout on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Springdale with a sharp 18-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Dynamos: they've now won six in a row.
Johnny Bertucci made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bertucci was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Riverview let Lukas Duncan and Eli DeVita run wild. Duncan went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while DeVita went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That triple was Duncan's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Saunders, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Serra Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Serra Catholic has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Riverview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Serra Catholic's way against Riverview when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Serra Catholic made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
