The North Saxons had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They had just enough and edged Westlake out 50-48.
Westlake's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mathis Dritz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. The match was Dritz's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Devin Feiereisen, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals.
North's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Westlake, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North will face off against Leuzinger at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Westlake will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th.
