Baseball Recap: Design Tech Has No Trouble Against KIPP San Jose Collegiate

Design Tech came out on top against KIPP San Jose Collegiate on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run first inning. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over the Wolfpack. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won eight matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Reilly Sutton and Logan Garrett were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Sutton pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garrett pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sutton has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Sutton went 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Garrett went 2-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Those two hits gave Sutton a new career-high.

In other batting news, Design Tech got a massive performance out of Aidan Tom, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Tom has become a key player for the Dragons: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Eoin Halili was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Design Tech kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 24 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Design Tech has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for KIPP San Jose Collegiate, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
