Basketball Recap: Rio Hondo Prep Skates Past South El Monte with Ease

Rio Hondo Prep waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 64-19 victory over the South El Monte Eagles. The Kares have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Rio Hondo Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but TARA RILEY led the charge by going 8 of 16 on her way to 22 points along with six steals and five boards. RILEY's afternoon made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of MADISON BURL, who went 5 for 9 on her way to 10 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Rio Hondo Prep was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Rio Hondo Prep's record is now 6-2. As for South El Monte, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Los Osos the next time they take the court. Rio Hondo Prep will head out to face Los Osos at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, while South El Monte will host them at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
