Marshall is on a four-game streak of home losses, Lincoln a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Marshall Barristers will take on the Lincoln Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
While it was all tied up 15-15 at halftime, Marshall was not quite Wilson's equal in the second half on Friday. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Marshall falling 50-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for them in their matchups with Wilson: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Marshall got a solid performance out of Giselly Gaona, who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Gibson, who scored nine points along with two steals and two blocks.
Lincoln suffered their biggest loss since December 27, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Franklin 48-19. While losing is never fun, Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 739th, while Franklin is ranked 293rd).
Marshall has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 6-10.
Marshall didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 39-33 win. Does Marshall have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lincoln turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
