Basketball Recap: Northgate Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Maddison Sardelich and Hana Neuman

If Northgate was feeling good fresh off their 43-23 takedown of Fairfield last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northgate Broncos received a blow on Saturday as they fell 64-45 to the Lincoln Trojans. The Broncos were not able to make up for their defeat to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Northgate's loss came despite strong showings from Hana Neuman and Maddison Sardelich. Neuman posted 15 points and six rebounds, while Sardelich put up eight points and 12 rebounds. Sardelich is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Samantha Myhr was another key player, putting up six points and five rebounds.

Lincoln's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Baquiran, who had ten points and three steals. Baquiran continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Touraya Blakey, who posted 16 points and eight steals.

Northgate has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-4 record this season. As for Lincoln, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Northgate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-34 victory against Benicia on the 8th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 63-18 win against West on the 7th.
