Delavan has gone a perfect 6-0 against Peoria Heights recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Patriots at 4:30 p.m.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Delavan's offense. They lost 10-0 to Heyworth on Thursday. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Delavan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Corbin Soldal, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Peoria Heights entered their tilt with Illini Central on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cougars an 11-0 shutout.
Jaxson White made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Peoria Heights is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. White was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Peoria Heights got a big performance out of Dakota Losh, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave Losh a new career-high. Sebastian Thornton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Peoria Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Illini Central only posted an OBP of .211.
Delavan's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Peoria Heights, their record is now 3-9.
Everything went Delavan's way against Peoria Heights in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Delavan made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
