The Dominguez Dons will head out on the road to square off against the Compton Tarbabes at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dominguez will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
While Dominguez's victory against Lynwood wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Dons narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 16-14. The Dons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ryan Flores and Benjamin Suarez did most of the damage at the plate: Flores got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Suarez went 4-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those three doubles gave Suarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Potts, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Compton had just enough and edged out Port of Los Angeles 2-1 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tarbabes.
Andrew Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Compton's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jeisar Morales, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Compton's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Dominguez, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dominguez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Compton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dominguez got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Compton by a conclusive 9-1 score. Do the Dons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tarbabes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
