The Mariposa County Grizzlies lost against the Chowchilla Tribe back in March of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mariposa County was beaten by Chowchilla 41-10. Mariposa County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-3.
Chowchilla found their leader in underclassman Nour Escheik, who scored 10 points. The matchup was Escheik's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Silva, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Mariposa County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Chowchilla, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mariposa County will take on Summerville at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Summerville's defense has only allowed 29.2 points per game this season, so Mariposa County's offense will have their work cut out for Mariposa County. As for Chowchilla, they will head out on the road to face off against Madera at 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Madera presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chowchilla in California (Madera is ranked 260th, while Chowchilla is ranked 920th).
