The San Dimas Saints will take on the La Salle Lancers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
San Dimas will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Montebello on Saturday. San Dimas put the hurt on Montebello with a sharp 15-5 win.
James Rocha looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).
On the hitting side, Aaden Escarcega was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Jason Almeda was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
San Dimas kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Salle, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 victory over Crescenta Valley on Saturday.
The team relied heavily on Travis Ochoa, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Klein, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
La Salle now has a winning record of 2-1. As for San Dimas, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
La Salle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. San Dimas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for La Salle, though, as they've been averaging only 3.7 strikeouts. Will San Dimas keep running through batters, or will La Salle buck the trend?
San Dimas couldn't quite finish off La Salle in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can San Dimas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
