After a string of three wins, the Pittsburg Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 46-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Freedom. Pittsburg has not had much luck with Freedom recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jenna Miller, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Ali Tuotolo, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Freedom to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aleah Diaz, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Diaz has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ariel De La O, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and six steals.
Pittsburg's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Freedom, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pittsburg will take on Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 56.2 points per game. Freedom won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Dublin at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Dublin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Freedom in California (Dublin is ranked 204th, while Freedom is ranked 506th).
