The McConnellsburg Spartans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Mount Union 37-34. The win was some much needed relief for McConnellsburg as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Despite the loss, Mount Union still got an impressive performance from Maddie Dimoff, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Patyn Crisswell, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
McConnellsburg's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Mount Union, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.
McConnellsburg will head out on the road to take on Southern Fulton at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mount Union, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Moshannon Valley at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th.
