Basketball Game Preview: Marysville Indians vs. Gridley Bulldogs

Marysville and Gridley are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Marysville Indians will take on the Gridley Bulldogs in a tournament on Wednesday. Marysville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.6 points per game this season.

Last Monday, Marysville came up short against Ponderosa and fell 63-52.

Despite the defeat, Marysville had strong showings from Abigail Pietz, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, and Demi Boykin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. Pietz has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 33 times she's played. Jorden Hill was another key player, putting up four points.

Meanwhile, Gridley played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Colusa, falling 65-43. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the RedHawks recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Marysville's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-2. As for Gridley, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Everything came up roses for Marysville against Gridley in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 66-32 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Gridley's Brook Marr, who dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 18 boards, and ten blocks.
