Basketball Game Preview: The Nueva School Mavericks vs. KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack

The Nueva School Mavericks and the KIPP San Jose Collegiate Wolfpack will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Nueva School is looking for their season's first victory.

Last Monday, The Nueva School was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 32-28 to Kehillah. While the Mavericks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Rams 10-4 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Willa Beard, who posted nine points and three steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Siana Kapoor, who put up ten points.

Meanwhile, KIPP San Jose Collegiate played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 58-22 loss at the hands of Design Tech. The Wolfpack were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-13.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for The Nueva School, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything went The Nueva School's way against KIPP San Jose Collegiate in their previous matchup back in February of 2017, as The Nueva School made off with a 44-23 win.
