The Pine River Area Bucks will be home for the holidays to greet the Mancelona Ironmen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Pine River Area comes in on six and Mancelona on three.
Pine River Area scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Lake City with a sharp 70-50 win. Considering Pine River Area has won four matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Mason Gugle and Trevor Holmquist were among the main playmakers for Pine River Area as the former scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists and the latter scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Jason Dean, who scored ten points.
Meanwhile, Mancelona was able to grind out a solid win over St. Mary Cathedral on Thursday, taking the game 50-40.
Pine River Area's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Mancelona, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Pine River Area beat Mancelona 51-41 in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Will Pine River Area repeat their success, or does Mancelona have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
