In what's become a running theme this season, the Fall River Bulldogs gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past Weed 64-29 at home. The victory was familiar territory for Fall River who now have four in a row.
Fall River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mylah Darnell led the charge by scoring 24 points along with six rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Darnell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Reese Cassity, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Weed's loss came despite strong showings from Alayja Oliver and Renaissance Johnson. Oliver scored eight points along with two steals, while Johnson scored six points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Oliver has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played.
Fall River's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Weed, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-4.
Fall River will head out on the road to face off against Etna at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Etna will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 841st, while Fall River is ranked 352nd). As for Weed, they will be playing at home against Modoc at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Julianna Minto and Johnson.
