Sumter County extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-15. They came up short against the Jordan Red Jackets, falling 17-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-3 on Tuesday.

Sumter County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Dutcher, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Dutcher is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
As for Jordan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-12 record this season. The result was nothing new for Jordan, who have now won ten games by ten runs or more so far this season.
On Jordan's side, Gary Wayne Morris was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Morris also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jordan is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise. Morris was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Jadon Riedel and Brody Catlin did most of the damage at the plate: Riedel went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Catlin went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Riedel has posted since back in February of 2025. Jared Carter was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Sumter County will head out on the road to square off against Hardaway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jordan, they will host Mary Persons at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Red Jackets will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
