The St. Bernard's Crusaders had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Aspire Langston Hughes Academy 67-11 on the road. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-2.
Leading St. Bernard's to victory were Rihanna Fontenot and Laila Florvilus. Fontenot scored 12 points, while Florvilus scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Aliyah Vigil, who scored 8 points.
St. Bernard's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
St. Bernard's won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lower Lake at 8:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Lower Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Tuesday. As for Aspire Langston Hughes Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ben Holt College Prep Academy at 6:30 p.m.
