The Watsonville Wildcatz scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past King City 56-24 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 39-13.
Watsonville found their leader in underclassman Stephanie Martinez, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Martinez scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Isabella Love, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, King City were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Watsonville only pulled down 25 offensive rebounds.
Watsonville's win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for King City, they bumped their record down to 1-4 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Watsonville will take on Soledad at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for King City, they will be playing at home against Anzar at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
