The Union Grove Wolverines will square off against the McIntosh Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McIntosh will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Union Grove extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Wolverines blew past Locust Grove 9-1.

Union Grove got a great performance from Alisha Cattuzzo as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Cattuzzo has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lauren Jordan was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ally Franklin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Union Grove hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 13 consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, McIntosh got the win against Lovejoy on Thursday by a conclusive 16-1. With that win, the Chiefs brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
McIntosh got a massive performance out of Braley Roop, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those two stolen bases gave Roop a new career-high. Olivia Sanchez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Union Grove's victory bumped their record up to 14-4. As for McIntosh, their win bumped their record up to 14-11.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .411. However, it's not like McIntosh struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Union Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against McIntosh in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Do the Wolverines have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chiefs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
