The Tri Titans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 69-59 victory over Cowan. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Josiah Cox was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Tri's points. Bryant Cornelius was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Cowan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Timmy Watson, who scored 19 points. The contest was Watson's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Griffin Smith, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds.
Tri's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Cowan, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri will be home for the holidays to greet Union City at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Union City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Saturday. Cowan will be home for the holidays to greet Eastern at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Eastern knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Cowan likes a good challenge.
