The Great Oak Wolfpack waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They enjoyed a cozy 53-34 victory over Temecula Valley. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Great Oak also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Great Oak got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bri Thomas out in front who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Another player making a difference was Kayla Martin, who scored 12 points.
Temecula Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlee Wellonen, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Wellonen scored 15 or more points. Audrey Pollack was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Great Oak has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Temecula Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Great Oak will take on Murrieta Mesa at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Murrieta Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Temecula Valley likes a good challenge.
