Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Union Broncos vs. Mammoth Huskies

Bishop Union is a perfect 10-0 against Mammoth since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Broncos will be playing at home against the Huskies at 3:15 p.m. Bishop Union's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Mammoth's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bishop Union took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over Boron.

The team relied heavily on Reuben Nicholson, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Bishop Union is undefeated when Nicholson posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Trejo, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Bishop Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Meanwhile, Mammoth lost 18-8 to Mineral County on Monday.

Mammoth saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Santiago Osnaya, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Ben Bonich was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Bishop Union pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Mammoth, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Mammoth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Union hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .392. It's a different story for Mammoth, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Bishop Union's hitters?

Bishop Union skirted past Mammoth 9-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huskies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
