Basketball Recap: Orcutt Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

After flying high against Laguna Blanca last Tuesday, Orcutt Academy came back down to earth. The Orcutt Academy Spartans took a 52-35 bruising from the Immanuel Eagles on Thursday. The game marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Orcutt Academy still got an impressive performance from Elizabeth Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Johnson's afternoon made it 19 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lylah Garcia was another key player, putting up two points and seven rebounds.

Orcutt Academy moved to 9-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak. As for Immanuel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orcutt Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Paso Robles at 5:30 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Immanuel, they will look to defend their home court on January 3, 2025 against Clovis North at 5:00 p.m. Immanuel is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
