The Sayre Sabres will be playing at home against the South Philadelphia Rams at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Sayre sitting on three straight wins and the Rams on six.
Last Tuesday, Sayre was able to grind out a solid victory over the Lions, taking the game 51-39.
Brionn Veal-Coston was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sayre's points. Mischa Ferguson-Bell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, South Philadelphia strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 27-13. Given South Philadelphia's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Panthers are ranked 709th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
South Philadelphia got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was India Brooks out in front who scored ten points.
Sayre's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for South Philadelphia, they pushed their record up to 7-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
