Baseball Recap: Portola Takes a Loss

After soaring to 15 runs the game before, Portola was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against the Loyalton Grizzlies, falling 9-2. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, with their most recent loss being a 8-0 defeat back in April.

Portola saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Leal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Leal is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Portola has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for Loyalton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Portola has already played their next matchup, a 4-3 loss against Biggs on the 9th. As for Loyalton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 victory against Tulelake on the 9th.
