Stagg is a perfect 10-0 against Edison since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Delta Kings will welcome the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Stagg's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Franklin hitters got past them. The Delta Kings came up short against the Yellowjackets on Friday, falling 12-4. The loss continues a trend for the Delta Kings in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost four in a row.
Aelias Guerrero was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, Jackson Brooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Christiano Shaw was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 19-3 to Downey.
Edison saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Chacon, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Edison's loss dropped their record down to 3-6-1. As for Stagg, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Stagg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Stagg's way against Edison when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Stagg made off with an 8-1 win. Will the Delta Kings repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
