Berthoud is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Roosevelt is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Spartans will host the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Berthoud made easy work of Thompson Valley and carried off a 16-1 victory.
Camryn Olivas and Chloe Sadar-Holmes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Olivas pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Sadar-Holmes pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in September. At the plate, Olivas went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Sadar-Holmes earned one RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Berthoud let Alana Lukensow and Annabelle Hughes run wild. Lukensow went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double, while Hughes went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI Lukensow has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Kuntz, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs.
Meanwhile, while Roosevelt put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Greeley Central. The Roughriders put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 15-0 win.
Davia Krause looked comfortable as she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Lily Wiese was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Jaylynn Yebra was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Berthoud, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
