Walkertown is on a seven-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while McMichael is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Walkertown will welcome McMichael at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Walkertown beats McMichael with 16 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Walkertown didn't even let North Forsyth on the board on Friday, marking Walkertown's second-straight 16-0 shutout. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Savannah Miller was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Isley, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
Miller wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Walkertown lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, McMichael made easy work of Morehead on Friday and carried off a 9-2 victory.
Lindsay Redmon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, McMichael got a massive performance out of Kora Ingle, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Betsy Taylor was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Walkertown's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for McMichael, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Walkertown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .368. However, it's not like McMichael struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
