Baseball Recap: Chowchilla Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Chowchilla made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Liberty, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Tribe were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Hawks on Wednesday. The Tribe might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Oliver Fuller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Chowchilla is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-7 otherwise. Fuller was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Nick Grissom was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Chowchilla is undefeated when Grissom posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Tristan Beardsley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Chowchilla's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Liberty, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-4.

Chowchilla will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Hawks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
