St. Mary had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Pleasant Grove Eagles on Friday as they made off with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Rams have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Tanner Grove made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Brady Errecart, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Errecart has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dax Hardcastle, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
St. Mary's was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Grove only posted a batting average of .125.
The win (which was St. Mary's fourth in a row) raised their record to 23-7. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-12.
