The Kennedy Titans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They pulled ahead with a 45-44 photo finish over Concord. Kennedy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Kennedy found their leader in underclassman Payton Siquig, who scored 16 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Siquig has scored at least 25% of Kennedy's points. Another player making a difference was Layla Scarberry, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Concord still got an impressive performance from Lamiyah Washington, who scored 26 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Dalilah Lawler was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, Concord were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Concord, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Kennedy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Newark Memorial at 4:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. As for Concord, they will head out on the road to face off against Acalanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Acalanes will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
