Pojoaque Valley is 0-6 against Robertson since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Elks/Elkettes will be playing at home against the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. This will be Pojoaque Valley's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Last Friday, Pojoaque Valley came up short against Hozho Academy and fell 21-14.

09/04/25 @ Los Alamos | 50 |
08/22/25 @ Crownpoint | 129 |
Pojoaque Valley's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of D'Marcus Rodriguez, who rushed for 122 yards and one score, and Jaden Leyba-Moya, who rushed for 128 yards on only 11 carries. With that strong performance, Rodriguez is now averaging an impressive 100.3 rushing yards per game.
Meanwhile, Robertson entered their tilt with Tularosa on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 28-10.
Pojoaque Valley better focus on containing Andres Sanchez and Michael Marr as the pair were huge in Robertson's win. Sanchez gained 103 total yards and a touchdown, while Marr picked up 117 receiving yards. Those 117 receiving yards gave Marr a new career-high.
Robertson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Francisco Lopez led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Santos Martinez is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Robertson got some further help from David Lautalo: he picked up a sack and made nine total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Robertson's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Pojoaque Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pojoaque Valley has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 185.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Robertson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 158.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Pojoaque Valley was taken down by Robertson 51-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Elks/Elkettes, Jesse James Gonzalez (who rushed for 189 yards and three TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
