The Maxwell Panthers lost against the Hamilton Braves on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Maxwell fell just short of the Braves by a score of 41-38. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Maxwell in their matchups with the Braves: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Maxwell lost, one person who can't be blamed is Emma Hendrix. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hendrix has scored all season. Camila Hernandez was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Maxwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Hamilton was led to victory by Hanne Porter and Hannah Bonesio. Porter scored 14 points, while Bonesio scored 14 points.
Maxwell's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Hamilton, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-5.
Maxwell will head out on the road to face off against the Lynx at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hamilton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
